Paphiopedilum micranthum orchid (Silver slipper orchid) is my favorite orchid. It lives in subtropical. Its large wide flower will keep blooming over month and then die. But don't throw it away. It can propagate new baby plants.
There are some interest points to know about this plant.

It has a layer of fur all over. Please do avoild touching the leaves. Otherwise you may distroy that "fur". Hold the edges.

They will die after blooming and it takes a long time. Before they die, they will produce new baby plants. Thus in nature, those orchid lives groupsin the forest.

This is how I raise them.

A new baby orchid grows out from its motherplant.

updated on 2025-06. The old leaves die completely (they fell and turned black). This is how the new plant becomes. In the terrarium, a moist environment, its roots climb over the wood and shows in air so I can watch it.
I have no idea but lots of tropical plants have cute fur roots. Love those furry roots.
