This easy-to-care-for grass bonsai is a great choice for both beginner and seasoned plant lovers. It’s a low-maintenance option that adds a touch of greenery to heated / air-conditioned space. The plants used in this bonsai include Fittonia, Saxifrage, and Oxalis, all of which thrive with minimal effort.
Here are some tips for keeping it healthy:
Outdoor Care: You can place your grass bonsai outdoors, but be sure to keep it in a shaded spot for optimal growth.
Indoor Care: If you prefer to keep it indoors, this bonsai is perfect for low-maintenance plant care. Just place it in a location with indirect light, and it’ll do just fine.
Soil Tip: To ensure your plants stay stable and in place, add clay soil. It helps anchor the roots and keeps everything secure.
With just a little attention, this simple bonsai will flourish, making it an excellent addition to any room or garden!

Here is a 1 minute sum of how I build it. It is so easy that I think I do not need to post the long video (it is in my channel).
Here is the followup video, two weeks since built. With a grow light, it is the plant decor anywhere you want, book shelf, table, etc.
updates on late August, 2025. Where is the saxifraga? Those nerve plants cover the light so they have to become tiny but still there. You will see them in the video update which will be available later.
Do you notice that all plants tends to be more small and more close to the rock?
