The material you will need:

1) any small tropical plants, moss you like.

2) clay soil (please check my red clay post for all the information about clay soil).

3) any background boards you like, bark, or lava rock (here is the one I choose).

4) you need 2-3 weeks to let the plants roots firmly on the panels.

If your time permits, try this. I am creating vertical live plant lava background for some new terrariums. The moss and ferns are stick on the panel by clay soil. > then they are placed together with my moss sheets receiving drizzling every day so they will always keep moist). With time pass, the plants grasp the lava board firmly and it is time to place vertically in a terrarium.

This is how some of them look in 3 weeks. If in terrarium, the moss will grow faster and fuller on the panel.
