Terrarium with a Wild Maidenhair Fern, a Venus Flytrap, and Bryum Moss

This terrarium project is planted with a wild maidenhair fern, a Venus flytrap, and Bryum moss.

How I Made It

1. I added a layer of small lava rock granules to the bottom of the terrarium.

2. I found two long, narrow pieces of Seiryu stone and placed them side by side. I filled the space between the stones with sphagnum moss.

   I also added a layer of sphagnum moss to the other parts of the planting base. Finally, I covered the surface with a layer of diatomaceous earth.

3. I used a stick to make two small planting holes between the pieces of Seiryu stone.

   I planted the wild maidenhair fern in one hole and the Venus flytrap in the other.

4. I covered the surface with Bryum moss.

Finally, I misted the terrarium with water and placed the glass cover on top.

This two-part terrarium is very easy to work with. Because the upper glass cover can be removed from the planting base, you can easily use taller plants and larger stones in the layout.

The wild maidenhair fern will grow taller over time and eventually fill the upper part of the terrarium. That is why the arrangement may look a little empty right now.
