Here are two Buddha-themed moss and fern terrariums, designed in the same geometric shape and style, differing only in size.
I built them at the same time, using similar plants and the same Buddha decor, so naturally I keep them side by side as a pair.
Both terrariums are well-ventilated, which means I have to be extra careful with the moss. I’m still hoping to keep it looking lush and green.
This is the small size.
This vented terrarium hosts a self-invited fern (yes, it moved in my flower pot by itself), creeping figs, and a lush carpet of Plagiomnium cuspidatum + Hypnum moss. Buddha sits calmly inside, probably wondering why the fern is growing better than maidenhair ever did.
This is the large size.
This vented terrarium features creeping figs, Plagiomnium cuspidatum, and Hypnum moss as ground cover. The main plants include Zamia furfuracea, black rabbit’s foot fern, and Saxifraga. With good airflow and no fogging, it suits ferns better than cushion moss—making the black rabbit’s foot fern a better choice here than maidenhair.
